Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Orthodontic Assistant to join our team. As an Orthodontic Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and assisting the orthodontist in various procedures. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Candidate must be willing to work in West Hartford and Avon.
Duties:
- Assist the orthodontist during dental procedures, including orthodontic adjustments, appliance placement, and removal
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and care instructions
- Perform basic dental laboratory tasks, such as pouring models and fabricating retainers
- Maintain accurate patient records in practice management software
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality
- Cross training to be able to assist with front desk duties, including scheduling appointments, answering phone and taking down new patient information
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families
Requirements**:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program
- X-ray and infection control certifications
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
